groundWork currently has the following project areas:
groundWork seeks to assist South African communities affected
by industrial air pollution to defend and promote their environmental
interests at local, national and international levels. One of the
methods by which we seek to assist industrial pollution-affected communities
is through the bucket brigade system of air pollution monitoring.
BOTH THE practise of waste incineration and poor health care waste management
have very detrimental impacts on the environment and human health.
There is an urgent need in South Africa for improved health care waste
management and also for a phasing out of all waste incinerators.
BACK TO TOP The objective of this project is to strengthen global solidarity between
major groups affected by industrial pollution and working for environmental
justice so as to hold multi-national corporations to account for the damage
they cause to environments and societies.
BACK TO TOP GROUNDWORK produces a range of publications including quarterly newsletters,
annual reports, fact sheets, information booklets and press releases.
The objective of this project is to make information on industrial pollution
and the state of environmental justice accessible to people’s organisations
and decision makers.
