1. Air Quality Project

groundWork seeks to assist South African communities affected by industrial air pollution to defend and promote their environmental interests at local, national and international levels.  One of the methods by which we seek to assist industrial pollution-affected communities is through the bucket brigade system of air pollution monitoring.

2. Waste Project

BOTH THE practise of waste incineration and poor health care waste management have very detrimental impacts on the environment and human health.  There is an urgent need in South Africa for improved health care waste management and also for a phasing out of all waste incinerators.

3. Corporate Accountability

The objective of this project is to strengthen global solidarity between major groups affected by industrial pollution and working for environmental justice so as to hold multi-national corporations to account for the damage they cause to environments and societies.

4. Publications

GROUNDWORK produces a range of publications including quarterly newsletters, annual reports, fact sheets, information booklets and press releases.  The objective of this project is to make information on industrial pollution and the state of environmental justice accessible to people’s organisations and decision makers.
