OUR MISSION
groundWork is a non-profit environmental justice
service and developmental organization working primarily in
South Africa but increasingly in Southern Africa.
groundWork seeks to improve the quality of life
of vulnerable people in South Africa, and increasingly in
Southern Africa, through assisting civil society to have a
greater impact on environmental governance.
groundWork places particular emphasis on assisting
vulnerable and previously disadvantaged people who are most
affected by environmental injustices.
MEET THE STAFF
groundWork was established in mid-1999 by five trustees and three
staff members: Bobby Peek, Linda Ambler and Gillian Addison.

recognition for his campaigning work in the South Durban
basin around toxic industry and waste issues.

around the Thor Chemicals debacle. He is a recipient
of the prestigious Goldman Foundation award and has
been invited to present papers in local, government
and international fora. |
